What to expect
Initial Consultation Call
I offer a free 20 minute intro phone or Zoom call to all potential clients.
The purpose of an intro call is so:
you can tell me a bit more about your current situation
we can talk through the why now
we can explore your needs and what you want from counselling
you can ask me any questions you might have
I can tell you a bit more about me and the practical details of how I work
we can chat about how we might work together
you can get a better sense of me and whether I'm the right fit for you
What I can offer you
Individual Counselling
I offer short-term counselling (6-12 sessions) for clients who have a particular concern they want to focus on.
I also offer longer-term psychotherapy (12 sessions+) for clients who want a deeper exploration of self, or their situation.
I incorporate regular reviews into any work we do together to ensure we are working collaboratively to meet your needs.
In-person and Online Sessions
I offer both in-person in Bristol (Redland and Old Market) and online counselling sessions.
I offer weekly sessions as standard, and in some cases I can offer fortnightly sessions, or monthly ‘check in’ sessions.
I use Zoom for any online sessions and I'm also happy to provide ad hoc online sessions, with prior notice.
Session Fees
My standard fee for a 50-minute counselling session is £60.
I offer a three-tier fee structure for my session fees which is reflective of my commitment to social justice, and my belief that counselling should be accessible to everyone.
There is no obligation to prove your financial circumstance, you choose the fee that is appropriate for you.
You are welcome to speak to me about concession fees.
Standard Fee - £60
This is my standard fee for all clients.
Pay-it-Forward Fee - £70
This fee is for those who are able to comfortably pay a little more. By choosing this fee, you help to support the availability of concession spaces and make counselling more accessible to those who may otherwise struggle to afford it.
Concession Fee - £50
I have a limited number of low fee counselling sessions for students, trainee counsellors or those on a low income/benefits. These concession spaces are to help people who would otherwise find it difficult to access counselling.
First Session
In our first session together, we will review our shared counselling agreement so that you are fully aware of my approach to confidentiality and note keeping, payments, cancellations, endings etc.
We will then discuss what you would like to explore in counselling, we might also look at any goals you have or any specific things you want focus on.
If it's helpful, I can ask you questions. Sometimes it's difficult to know where to start and what to talk about. I might ask you about what you are doing with yourself - work, studies etc., what your living situation is like, who your support network are - family, partner(s), friends, colleagues, what your hobbies, interests etc. are, and importantly what you do for fun, a moment of joy, or to take care of yourself.
There is no expectation that you need to tell me everything about you and your situation in your first session.
